Race History
Heart of the Valley Triathlon is one of the oldest triathlons in the state! It began in 1984 and took a brief break from 1990-1994 but has been put on annually since 1995! All together, 2019 will be the 31st year!
Over the years, several companies have directed the race. This is the fourth year Best in the West Events will host the HOTV triathlon.
About the Beneficiary
Best in the West Events is proud to support the community and local charities. Proceeds from this event go to the Family Assistance Program. The program supports a very important aspect of Best in the West Event’s mission, promoting physical activity and wellness throughout the community. We are fortunate to have the City of Corvallis and Osborn Aquatic Center’s support in putting on this event and are happy to give back though support of this program.
Corvallis Parks and Recreation strives to work with the community to eliminate fees as a barrier to participation in classes and activities. We do not want any child or adult to be left out of the fun simply because their income is limited.
Thanks to donations from the Benton County Foundation, businesses, and individuals, Parks and Recreation can offer individuals and families financial scholarships to cover fees. If your income is between 0 and 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you can receive 100% off the cost of activities and classes, up to the $150 maximum in financial assistance per family member per calendar year. If your income is between 151% and 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you can receive 50% off the cost of activities and classes up to the $150 maximum in financial assistance per family member, per calendar year. The scholarship can be used to pay for most recreation programs, including those at Parks and Recreation, Osborn Aquatic Center and the Chintimini Senior Center.
Donations to help support this neighbor-friendly program are accepted year-round and are always appreciated!
